Our team consists of a bunch of passionate people who care about changing the lives of children, so that they can reach their full potential. We have board members and directors as well as a diverse and creative team that consists of admin, finance, marketing, fundraising, support and volunteers.
At a young age, Nicole felt called to be a “Mother to Many”.
With a background in Theology and Nursing she focused her energy on children and helping the vulnerable. In 2010 her passion started to become a reality as she ventured on the path towards working with orphans and abandoned babies. Nicole believes that each child deserves to be loved and nurtured and is a true blessing to life.
She lives in Johannesburg with her husband and educates her 3 young children at home.
Karen is a qualified chartered accountant who has spent the past 3 years focused on growth and innovation in the financial services sector. Despite having travelled extensively whilst growing up she now resides in Johannesburg with her husband. She is passionate about life, the outdoors and giving back. She strongly believes that everyone deserves the best start in life.
Chris is an I.T. professional with a background in Finance, who has been working in many industries in a number of different managerial project roles. He has a deep passion for people – for their care, growth and ability to fulfill their potential. An eternal optimist, Chris longs to see restoration to South African culture and children treated with kindness and love. He lives in Olivedale with his wife and 3 young children.
We have two children aged 8 and 10 years. We enjoy community projects and have been involved with a few initiatives, mostly with disadvantaged children.
Fostering through Matchbox Babies enabled us to take our efforts to the next level since it pulled our children into the effort. We were amazed at how they loved the experiences and the babies.
Strangely enough it is our 10 year old son that loves babies most while our 8 year old daughter takes longer to form a strong bond. the experience is challenging and rewarding and we would encourage every parent or couple to try it at least once.

Angela is a modern single mom, corporate negotiator and a passionate individual who wants to make a difference for our country. With 18 years’ experience in media, marketing and advertising across various mediums, it is her privilege to apply her skills to help grow this amazing vision for our children of the future through Matchbox Babies. She lives in Johannesburg and is raising 3 lovely children.
An entrepreneur that works predominantly in the Financial Services Industry. Jason is married to Taryn and has a daughter, Lexi. From an early age Jason developed a keen interest into the workings and behaviours of Society.
He believes that it is imperative that children are provided with a Loving and Nurturing Environment. “Even three months without love and touch in a State Orphanage can skew a child’s neurological development. Leading to social and psychological disorders later in life”.
Nicolene is a qualified audiologist but has been a stay-at-home mom since the birth of their son. Since becoming a mom her heart is to see all babies find loving homes.
Nicolene lives in Lonehill with her husband (Schalk), son (Eckard) and they have little girl on the way!
Nicola has always been driven by a passion to fight against the injustices brought on by poverty and inequality. With a background in PR, writing and marketing within the environmental, welfare and education sectors, Nicola is invested in communications for development. She currently works as a Communications Freelancer supporting Foundations, Trusts and NPO's with their communication tools and marketing and fundraising strategies.
She is a mom to a little girl and runs her own children's gardening school - encouraging love and respect for nature in young children.
